To realize high-energy-density all-solid-state batteries, SAIC Group aims to complete the first production line by the end of 2025, with full scale mass production and prototypes in cars starting in 2026. They have a three-step strategy to reduce the liquid content in the battery and eventually implement a fully solid electrolyte to improve safety, performance, and reduce costs. By doing so, SAIC hopes to strengthen its competitiveness in the electric vehicle market and usher in the era of all-solid-state batteries.
In this column, we'll take a look at SAIC's strategy for solid-state battery development.
